A couple of storms moved through the area today. The first storm occurred around 9 am. That storm packed a wind gust of 42 mph. There were many small branches down due to the storm.
The second storm came through at 6:30 pm. It didn’t bring much wind or rain.
The rainfall total for the day was 0.40 in.
High temp: 92° F
High dew point: 82° F
The second storm also had some impressive looking cloud formations. Here’s a Time-lapse video.
Here’s a recap of the weather data from 2010. The wind speed values are not accurate because the anemometer was located too close to some trees for most of the year. Now it is located up on a 40 foot mast in my back yard.
This year I added a webcam and a solar sensor to my weather station equipment. I plan to move the weather station base unit because there is a couple trees that shade the solar sensor during the day. You will notice this in the solar readings until I move it.
New weather equipment coming soon is a soil moisture sensor. I won’t be able to install it until the ground thaws.
I also rebuilt my weather station server and added a UPS.
The biggest weather story of the year was the tornado that came within 4.5 miles of our house on May 4th. We could actually hear the locomotion sound.

It’s the final game of the regular season. If the Pack wins they are in the playoffs. It’s a good thing this game wasn’t played yesterday when the wind was gusting over 40 mph. Even though it’s only 16 degrees today the sun is shining and the wind is only around 10 mph. The weather shouldn’t play too much of a factor in today’s game.
